The Juicy Details

The Indian River region on the East coast of Florida is an area no more than 15 to 20 miles from the ocean. The region has unique soil and specific weather conditions that are optimal for growing the sweetest and juiciest citrus. The Atlantic's Gulf Stream breezes provide the warm days, wet summers and cool nights necessary to grow the best tasting citrus in the world.

Only the very best citrus becomes gift fruit. Our gift fruit is sorted and graded to meet very high external and internal quality standards. The few external blemishes you may see on gift fruit have no effect on the juicy, sweet taste inside. As the season progresses, we have chosen other premier growers to supply our customers standards.

Citrus is called seedless if it consistently has zero to six seeds.

Citrus may have light brown blemishes, known as wind scars, as a result of being blown by the wind against tree branches during fruit development. Steady Atlantic Gulf Stream breezes are common in Indian River groves because of their proximity to the coast. Wind scar does not affect the sweet taste and superb quality of the fruit.

Green Fruit It is not uncommon for your gift fruit to have a bit of green color in the skin. Warm days and cool nights are necessary for the fruit to turn its usual bright color. If nights are warm as the fruit ripens, it may remain slightly green on the outside, while developing perfectly on the inside.

Fresh Florida citrus will last much longer in the refrigerator. Temperatures from 35° to 50° Fahrenheit are best. For grapefruit, a temperature between 45° and 48° is recommended. If refrigerator storage space is unavailable, you may store your citrus in any cool, dry place. For best results, do not store fruit in the shipping box.

We process all orders within 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) Your fruit is then washed, graded and hand selected for shipment.

UPS Ground delivery takes 2 to 3 days for the East coast and 3 to 4 days for the extreme West coast, while the United States Post Office can take up to 4 weeks to deliver your fruit. UPS provides tracking numbers from the time your order is packed until it reaches your destination.

Please note we do not use any ground services for Post Office boxes. Instead, we use PRIORITY MAIL from the Post Office. If you select the Post Office as your delivery carrier, you will be charged for the priority shipping charges.
